Marty Karriker, who is the President & CEO of Charlotte Insurance, and a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, started in the insurance business in 1990. He began his insurance career selling Life & Health Insurance while still attending N.C. State University on a Football Scholarship. Upon graduating NCSU wih a B.A. Degree in Business Management, Mr. Karriker, along with Vice-President Sean Hertel, purchased an existing Auto Insurance Agency. They then began opening Agencies across the State of North Carolina. However by the end of 1999 they consolidated all of their far reaching locations and began focusing on the local market. Charlotte Insurance has Branches located in the Greater Charlotte Area where it is one of the largest personal lines Agencies in Premium Volume and Customer Base in North Carolina. Mr. Karriker was also a leader in seeing the need to embrace Agency Automation and Internet Capabilities, which is much attributed to the success of the company. Today, he mostly oversees business infrastructure, marketing, development, and implementation. Mr. Karriker has been married since 1992 to his wife, Marcela. They have beautiful fraternal twin Daughters.

Sean Hertel is the co-founder and Vice President of Charlotte Insurance. Mr. Hertel received a BSBA in Business/Marketing from East Carolina University. Upon graduating in 1990 Mr. Hertel entered the insurance industry selling Life & Health Insurance. In 1992 along with his partner Marty Karriker founded the company which quickly expanded to several locations throughout North Carolina. Understanding the different distribution channels to sell insurance, Mr. Hertel decided in 1999 to consolidate the company and now has physical locations throughout the Greater Charlotte Area. Charlotte Insurance has become one of the largest personal lines Independent Insurance Agencies in North Carolina. Due to the ever changing market place for insurance, Mr. Hertel has remained dedicated to research and development in order to provide the best service for their customers. Instilling this philosophy throughout the company has greatly attributed to the success of Charlotte Insurance. Today, Mr. Hertel oversees marketing decisions, production, employees, and customer relations. Mr. Hertel has been married since 1993 to his wife, Stacy. They share two beautiful daughters.

Stacy Hertel is a vested owner and Vice President of Sales and Customer Relations for Charlotte Insurance. Mrs. Hertel graduated from East Carolina University as Summa Cum Laude in 1990 with a BSBA in Business/Marketing. Upon graduating, she used her marketing and promotional skills for Ralph Lauren as Marketing Coordinator for North and South Carolina. After winning the National Marketing Coordinator of the Year, Stacy then pursued a career in pharmaceutical sales for almost 10 years. She gained invaluable sales and customer relations training working in this industry. Upon winning several National Presidential Achievement Awards, she began focusing on raising her two daughters, assisting her husband at Charlotte Insurance, and volunteering and chairing in church, school, and community capacities.
In an effort to add more value to Charlotte Insurance, Stacy advanced her insurance education & training by earning an AAI designation in 2009, which is the Accredited Adviser in Insurance, requiring 9 national exams. This designation provides in-depth insurance knowledge with a strong focus on customer service and relations. Stacy continues to implement value-added programs in the agency, improve sales, sales training, and customer relations.

Marcela Karriker

Marcela Avila Karriker is an owner of Charlotte Insurance and is Vice President of Business Development. She is a Native of Tegucigalpa, which is the capital of Honduras. Fully bilingual in Spanish, she has a diversified cultural background while growing up as her family was heavily involved in government and diplomatic professions. Marcela was granted her Bankers license by the State of North Carolina in the late 90's where she owned and operated a successful Mortgage Company, enjoying a mortgage career in the financial industry. Marcela is married to Marty Karriker who is her business partner, but more importantly her life partner and Father of their twins daughters. Arriving to Charlotte North Carolina in 1985, she fell in love with the city and its' community where she studied International Business and Marketing with a minor in German.
Aside from Insurance, Marcela is also a Certified Ballroom Dance Instructor and competitive National Champion. As an Independent Contractor, she works as a fashion consultant and stylist for Randall Designs who is the exclusive ballroom gown and costume designer/provider for ABC's TV show Dancing with the Stars. From Dancing, to Mortgages, to Insurance, Marcela often tells us, “Be in the business of happiness if you want to be a driver of success. Make your clients happy and love what you do so you can serve them well”. When asked if she can do something she states, "I'm a Mother, I can do anything!"

Pamela brings 30 years of insurance experience to our agency. She began her insurance career as an after-school job and never turned back. After finding herself in an empty nest, she decided to “fly the coop and migrate” to the south from the Detroit area.
Pamela brings with her a diverse insurance background, serving the industry as a Customer Service Representative for Personal Lines as well as Commercial Lines, office manager, sales, agency accounting and mentor.
Pamela is our large Commercial Lines Account Manager.

Originally from across the pond Noel Smith made the United States his choice as the best place to raise a family and pursue a worthwhile business career. He has worked and lived in the Carolinas for over 35 years. He started with the 3 M Company in their international sales and marketing sector for Central America and the Caribbean, representing industrial, retail divisions and medical products. Later he was promoted to their medical imaging division in Miami, Atlanta, and New York.
In 1985 he purchased Chamberlin Company, a Raleigh based commercial construction business, that specialized in concrete repair and water resistant product installations, eventually expanding the business with operations in Richmond and Charlotte. In 1994 he formed a separate division of Chamberlin and constructed commercial investment property in the University area of Charlotte.
In 1999 he created a real estate partnership in the Blue Ridge where he developed land, built homes and sold real estate. Mr. Smith has obtained an unusually diverse experience with both residential and commercial real estate, from buying land, constructing buildings, leasing and selling property. Mr. Smith started Smith Associates, a consulting company for a local Workers Compensation insurance agency, eventually expanding this interest to include becoming a license Property & Casualty Agent for Charlotte Insurance. He specializes as a commercial agent.
Along with his involvement with professional organizations, Mr. Smith also dedicates time to volunteer work with the Mecklenburg Prison Ministry.

Markos is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoys riding his 2002 Harley Davidson. Besides motorcycle riding he also enjoys traveling, snow skiing, and Nascar among other various outdoor sports.
