Marcela Avila Karriker is an owner of Charlotte Insurance and is Vice President of Business Development.   She is a Native of Tegucigalpa, which is the capital of Honduras.  Fully bilingual in Spanish, she has a diversified cultural background while growing up as her family was heavily involved in government and diplomatic professions.  Marcela was granted her Bankers license by the State of North Carolina in the late 90's where she owned and operated a successful Mortgage Company, enjoying a mortgage career in the financial industry.  Marcela is married to Marty Karriker who is her business partner, but more importantly her life partner and Father of their twins daughters.  Arriving to Charlotte North Carolina in 1985, she fell in love with the city and its' community where she studied International Business and Marketing with a minor in German.

Aside from Insurance, Marcela is also a Certified Ballroom Dance Instructor and competitive National Champion.  As an Independent Contractor, she works as a fashion consultant and stylist for Randall Designs who is the exclusive ballroom gown and costume designer/provider for ABC's TV show Dancing with the Stars.  From Dancing, to Mortgages, to Insurance, Marcela often tells us, “Be in the business of happiness if you want to be a driver of success.  Make your clients happy and love what you do so you can serve them well”.  When asked if she can do something she states, "I'm a Mother, I can do anything!"
