With Hurricane Preparedness Week long passed us (May 27th through June 2nd) and Hurricane Sandy on the horizon, it’s never a bad idea to revisit great ideas. One great idea to remember while NC hurricane season rages on: ALWAYS BE PREPARED!

Four items to remember when trying to stay ahead of the curve:

1. Gather information – Know if you live in an evacuation area and what the best media outlets are to receive National Weather Service severe weather news updates. Keep local emergency, county law enforcement & public safety, and local T.V. & radio stations contact information on file.

2. Plan & take action – Does your family have a safety plan in place for times of unpredictable weather such as tornadoes and hurricanes?Family Emergency Plans are easy to create and can be found online, too. Know your local evacuation routes as well!

3. Recover – Before returning home, be patient and wait until an area is considered safe. Recovering from a national disaster takes time and can sometimes be a long process.

4. Resources – Find planning guides and safety models on the Internet, as well as a wealth of other knowledge to keep you informed. Be prepared!

Contact Charlotte Insurance if you are in need of North Carolina insurance -related information, such as opening a home, auto, or business policy, have questions about weather claims, or just need advice about your insurance plan or renewal.
